Sunnen Foundation Awards Grant to KITM

ST. LOUIS (Feb. 2, 2021) –  Kids In The Middle (KITM) has been awarded $10,000 from the Sunnen Foundation. The grant will provide Group and Individual Counseling for Children ages 3 ½ to 18 whose families experience trauma due to parental separation, divorce, remarriage, and other family transitions.

“We are honored and grateful to receive a grant from the Sunnen Foundation,” says Katy Walter, CEO of KITM. “The long-term support that this foundation provides us allows children and families to receive counseling services to help cope through the processes of separation and divorce.”

The Sunnen Foundation is a charitable foundation that was established by machinery manufacturer Joseph Sunnen in 1953. The foundation awards ten to 20 grants a year and is typically awarded to an organization in the St. Louis region and is committed to funding projects that support youth services.

KITM will not turn families away because of an inability to pay for counseling services. The Agency uses a sliding scale fee process, and families pay what they can afford. Approximately 90 percent of the children and families that receive services at KITM receive some level of financial assistance. This is made possible through the generosity of foundations and corporations such as the Sunnen Foundation, the United Way of Greater St. Louis, and the St. Louis County Children’s Services Fund.
